Young Bum Kwon, CEO of YoungLimWon Soft-Lab, Receives Merit Award at the 3rd SW Honors Award
Young Bum Kwon, CEO of YoungLimWon Soft-Lab, was awarded the Merit Award and Plaque at the ‘3rd Software Honors Award (SW Honors Award).’
Hosted by the Korea Software Industry Association (KOSA), the SW Honors Award was established to inherit the honor and tradition of software professionals who have contributed to the development of the software industry. Candidates are nominated annually by the association’s executive companies, and the final awardees are selected after deliberation by the association’s review committee.
The award ceremony took place on the 22nd at the Samjeong Hotel in Seoul, attended by Jo Jun-hee, Chairman of the Korea Software Industry Association, Young Bum Kwon, CEO of YoungLimWon Soft-Lab, and many association members.
Young Bum Kwon, who won the Merit Award, originally majored in electrical engineering but was drawn to the allure of software and chose to pursue a path as a software engineer. CEO Kwon made his mark by leading high-difficulty projects that were the first of their kind in Korea, including the computerization of the National Sports Festival in 1983, the design of computer systems for the Asian Games and the Seoul Olympics, and the downsizing of Yu Gong Shipping(currently SK Shipping).
Convinced that the future lay in package software, CEO Kwon founded YoungLimWon Soft-Lab in May 1993 and announced the Korean-style ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system in 1997.
- Over the past 30 years, the industry-specific ERP, ‘K-System Ace,’ packed with accumulated know-how and technology, has been contributing to the improvement of corporate management efficiency and leading the domestic ERP market.
